A Pink & Teal 90's Wedding | Camille + Tom

Camille and Tom are celebrating over 20 years of marriage and we loved taking a look back on their 90’s wedding. Even though styles have changed, brides and grooms today can learn a lot from them!

*Camille and Tom were married on June 6, 1992, in the Idaho Falls Temple.*

We met at Rick’s College, dated for 3 1/2 weeks, got engaged for 7 months. Married in the Idaho Falls Temple. I was 19, he was 22. 4 kids later, lots of trials (children going astray, 2 boys coming home early from missions, unemployment, now I have breast cancer) and we’re still going strong. We’ve had ups and downs, but because we were sealed, it helped us stay together through the hard times.

WHAT WAS WEDDING PLANNING LIKE FOR YOU?

Stressful, because my parents didn’t have any money, so I paid for everything using my leftover student loan money.

WHAT WERE YOUR WEDDING COLORS AND/OR THEME?

Light pink and teal. It was the early 90’s!

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING STYLE.

As cheaply as possible, but still looking nice.

LOOKING BACK, WOULD YOU DO ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PLANNING AND/OR WEDDING?

I would be nicer to my mom. She tried so hard with no money to work with.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE LDS COUPLES PLANNING A WEDDING?

Don’t spend so much money. Get a good photographer and the rest doesn’t matter in the long run. Don’t be extravagant. Save your money for important things.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR WEDDING RECEPTION!

We had two receptions and an open house. I grew up in Idaho Falls, but we had moved to Salt Lake. My husband is from Burley Idaho. His mom paid for a second full-on reception the day after the first one on Idaho Falls. Two weeks later we had an open house in Salt Lake. My parents transported the cake to all three!

We made mini cherry cream cheese cinnamon rolls ourselves and served them with pink lemonade. I love pink!

WHAT IS SOMETHING SPECIFIC THAT YOU REMEMBER ABOUT YOUR WEDDING?

I remember all the family members in the temple showing us their support. It was so wonderful knowing they loved us so much. However, neither of my brothers was there. One was on a school trip, the other was in basic training. I really wish they could have been there. My husband’s parents weren’t at the sealing. That is my only regret, missing family members.

VENDORS:

Our photographer had a list of poses we could choose from. This was before digital. I wish I had more photos. Don’t skimp on the photos! We made the centerpieces ourselves (wooden carousel horses). The cake was made by a family friend. We provided the ingredients and she made and decorated it as her gift to us.
