LDS Bridesmaids: Traditional Roles & Responsibilities

Being a bridesmaid is a joyful and fun time. It can also be a  bit confusing and stressful. Whether you are an LDS bridesmaid or are wondering how to have your bridesmaid support you on your big day, here are some of their traditional roles and responsibilities.

Help Choose Bridesmaids Dresses

Some brides simply choose what they want their bridesmaids to wear, but many ask for input. Since the bridesmaid is generally expected to purchase all of her wedding attire, it’s important you stay involved in the discussion. Make sure you have exactly what the bride has requested and be to any fittings or rehearsals on time and ready to go.

Help Prepare & Host the Bridal Shower

With the maid of honor at the helm, work hard to make sure the bridal shower runs smoothly. This can include setting up and cleaning up, preparing food, and keeping track of gifts.

Help Plan & Prepare the Bachelorette Party

Your main role at the bachelorette party is to help the bride relax and have fun. You can help prepare activities, make reservations, and purchase any special gifts from the bridal party.

Be a Support

Overall, bridesmaids are there to be a support in any way she can. Always go to the maid of honor and see if there is anything you can do. On the day of the wedding, keep your eyes open for things that need to be done without you asking. It is a good idea to keep your purse stocked with bobby pins, lipstick, and powder for the bride. Just be ready to jump in at any time to help with what is needed.
